Scenery
For walkers, a lengthy section of the Severn
Way long distance footpath passes along the
river valley. You can tackle the Jack Mytton
bridle path on foot, horseback or bicycle,
and there are hundreds of way marked paths,
woodland walks, bridleways and tracks to
cater for every range of ability. |

Cycling
A newly opened cycle route, the Mercian Way,
goes through the beautiful Wyre Forest, and
on to the Severn Valley Country Park near
Bridgnorth. An extension to the route is due
to open soon. There are Visitor Centres at
the Country Park and in the Wyre Forest. |

Fishing
Anglers will find an embarrassment of
riches. The Severn is stocked with a variety
of coarse fish, and there are fishing pools
galore. Trout and coarse fishing can be
enjoyed in the grounds of Astbury Falls. |

Canoeing
And if fishing doesn't float your boat, you
can take a Canadian canoe trip along the
river, combined with a steam train ride and
a pub lunch or picnic. |

Horse Riding
With over 20 riding centres, there's
something for all ages and abilities.
Ride The Jack Mytton Way which is a seventy
mile long bridleway from the Severn Valley
to the Welsh borders near Llanfair Waterdine.

Golf
Bridgnorth Golf Club welcomes visitors and
societies. If you are on holiday in the area
and wish to experience an enjoyable game of
golf this is ideal.
Also in Bridgnorth are Chesterton Valley,
and Severn Meadow golf clubs. |

Bird Watching
Astbury Falls is a haven for many different
species of birds and lazy days can be spent
watching them, sitting on your own verandah. |

Sailing
Chelmarsh reservoir supports dinghy sailing
and fishing. It is also designated as a bird
sanctuary so preserving the natural charm
and beauty of the area. |

Leisure Complex
Bridgnorth Sports & Leisure Centre is an
Amateur Swimming Association Education
Centre and an IQL Approved Training Centre
which boasts an impressive fitness suite. |

Food, Markets,
Crafts, Antiques
Bridgnorth's atmospheric open-air markets
attract shoppers from far and wide. Each
Saturday the High Street and Meredith's Yard
are filled with colourful awnings as traders
sell everything from fresh fish to
lawnmowers.
Dozens of professional painters, potters,
sculptors and carvers draw their inspiration
from the stunning beauty of this part of
Shropshire and their work can be seen in
many of the local galleries
The Old Mill Antique Centre is a large
antique centre, featuring over 90 dealers
with restaurant and monthly auction.
There are antique shops round every corner
as well as two emporia in Bridgnorth where
antiques to suit every taste and pocket can
be found

Bridgnorth Cliff Railway
Since 1892 the remarkable Bridgnorth Cliff
Railway has transported the people of
Bridgnorth up and down the 111ft sandstone
cliff that separates the parts of the town,
giving magnificent views of the River
Severn. |

The Severn Valley
Railway
A restored standard gauge line linking
Bridgnorth with Kidderminster, 14 miles
away. Steam trains operate throughout the
year, calling at picturesque country
stations all along the stunning route, which
winds its way through the beautiful Severn
Valley.
